I went to Portland, Oregon to film the Black Lives Matter protest on election night. As I was getting closer to the rear of the protest, I heard an argument across the street from me. I couldn’t see what started it, but as I moved closer several protesters chased and threw one individual to the ground.
After returning the cellphone they had apparently taken from him, they forced him to leave the area of the protest. They then saw me filming, with one protester calling me “alt-right” media, and told me that I had to leave as well. I had a short exchange with them, trying to diffuse the situation as I had no backup, and they finally walked away.
Later on I spoke to the individual who was attacked, learning he was a Trump supporter who had been filming them as well.
